The Ice Is Melting

We are marking the International Year of Glaciers 2025 with the exhibition The Ice Is Melting.

5 Feb 2025 – 5 Feb 2026

Glaciers are sensitive to climate change and are considered an important indicator when the UN’s climate panel assesses changes in the climate.

Glaciers and snowfields that are retreating and disappearing are highly visible and tangible to us, but what does this mean for nature and for people?

In the exhibition, we ask – What is climate change doing to nature, and what do ancient snowfields hide?

You can see, among other things, rock crystals, bones and reindeer antlers, and replicas of quartz arrowheads, willow-twig bindings, and scare sticks found in the Tafjord and Valldal mountains.
