The Fisheries Museum in Ålesund presents a complete display of equipment used in the manufacturing of steamed fish liver oil, called Tran in Norway, throughout the ages.
The modern production of Tran in Norway had its start in 1854, when Peter Møller built a Tran factory on the island of Giske, right outside of Ålesund. The Fisheries Museum has a collection of models and equipment which showcase the production of Tran, from the old days to the industrially manufactured cod liver oil for medicinal use.
